When a PitBull comes is a shade of gray the correct terminology to describe it is blue. Blue PitBulls have become very popular since the early 2000's and now compete with the red lines as being the most popular.
While blue PitBulls are very popular many people have sought to discredit their existence in the breed in its pure state. The first original written standard on the American PitBull Terrier however states: "Any color, solid, parti, or patched is permissible". We take serious this standard and feel there is no ambiguity with the term "ANY". It seems that whenever a line becomes popular there are a select few out there that will do their best to tear it down. Such is the case with blues, Merles, & tans, tris, and in the past red and whites. While many of these people attempt to represent themselves as enthusiasts really they only work to tear apart the breed, cause confusion, cause conflict and destroy the APBT's well-documented history.
The blue PitBull can also be affected by other patterns as well and are often referred to as being blue in combination with their pattern such as blue brindle, blue Merle, blue fawn, blue & tan and blue tri. If interested in blue PitBulls that are also represented in these patterns please select those patterns within the gallery where blue examples are also listed.
